1:39 PM - Two Stupid Customers br /br /br /I got this one lady today. She wanted the bacon you can cook in the microwave. So I showed her the fully cooked bacon and she said that wasnt it. So I showed her the microwave ready bacon from Hormel and she said it was Oscar Mayer. Well, the only bacon of Oscar Mayers is the fully cooked bacon, which she said wasnt it because we had it in the cooler and this wasnt cooled. She didnt want fully cooked bacon, we wanted bacon you could cook in the microwave. I told her that you can cook all bacon in the microwave but she wasnt happy about that answer.br /br /So I asked the guy in grocery if we had any magical bacon in the back that wasnt fully cooked and yet didnt have to be cooled. He showed me the same exact Oscar Mayer bacon that I showed the lady and I told him that she said that it wasnt it. So he went out to tell her that we dont have any bacon on the regular grocery shelves. All of the bacon we had was with the other bacon.br /br /So the lady still didnt believe us so we had to get the grocery manager to tell her that she had absolutely no bacon at all in her area period. Well, that old lady biotch didnt get any bacon and just walked off all mad. She must have went to management because all of management heard about it. The grocery guy was sent to the ad office. She must not have been offended by me because I wasnt sent to the ad office. She was the moron of the day.br /br /The second stupid customer I had today picked up a 1 lb roll of 80/20 ground beef. He asked me if we had any 85% and I told him that we didnt carry it. So he asked me if we had any more 80/20. I gave him a funny look because the beef was completely full and so I was wondering how much he wanted. I told him what we have is out. So he starts looking behind the 73% like I am hiding the 80% behind the 73%. I pointed up to where the 80% was stocked and said, The 80/20 is up here. He went, Oh! Duh. He would have had to pick up the first roll from there anyway.

Ive mentioned the associate with OCD that I work with in the deli on this site before. Tonight she pushed all my buttons in the wrong way. She decided to have a showdown with me over dishes (dishes! WTF?), which led to me texting my boss once my shift was over quote quot;____ goes or I go. Your choicequot; end quote. br /br /We had just begun to clean up in deli about an hour before. I was washing dishes in the back (scrape, wash, rinse, sanitize, air dry), when this associate ( I will henceforth refer to her as O) came back from scraping the hot case, stuck her face in the wash sink and said, quot; Why do you do this? Huh? Why do you do this?quot; Very confrontational voice.br /br /Me: quot;Do what?quot;br /br /O: quot;Would you do this at your house? Do you want to make someone sick? Arent you old enough to know better?quot;br /br /Me: : quot; What are you talking about?quot;br /br /O: quot; You cant wash dishes like that. You have to use scrubbers, the sponges.quot; I had a sponge in my hand when she said this.br /br /Me: quot;Unless youre standing there watching me do the whole process, how can you know Im not?quot; Brandishing my sponge. Still calmly.br /br /O: After a pause, then very confrontationally. quot; What have I done to you?quot;br /br /Me: Blank look. quot; What have I done toem you/em? Youve been giving me the silent treatment for two weeks.quot;br /br /O: quot;Well, Ive been a little upset.quot;br /br /Me: quot; That gives you the right to criticize me?quot;br /br /O: quot;Im not criticizing, Im teaching. Im telling you what youre doing wrong.quot;br /br /Me: mimicking quot; Do you want to make someone sick?nbsp; Thats not criticism? And particularly arrogant criticism, at that? Go back to work, O.quot;br /br /O: quot; For the love of- Arrogant?quot;br /br /Me: quot;Go do your job.quot;br /br /Need I say that this is the same person who took eight, almost nine, hours to wash a four foot section of the meat case, broke the seal on it, takes hour long fifteen minute breaks, and never helps customers unless theyre literally in her face? God, she makes me sick.br /br /I swear, if I was a violent person.....br /br /

Dear lady with the tiredly sobbing child, br /nbsp; Just because someone mentioned that your child sounded tired is not the cue for you to go off screaming profanities and you aint gonna call no child protectives services on me againnbsp; The poor elderly lady you were screaming at was shocked and really didnt seem about to go to CPS at all.nbsp; She was merely mentioning that your little one was tired.nbsp; Chill out....br /br /Dear New coworker, br /nbsp; Yes, as a matter of fact, you DO have to sweep.nbsp; That does mean UNDER things.nbsp; Making our boss follow you around all night to make sure youre working is also not cool.nbsp; Hes got other things to do.nbsp; Well, our liquor sales will be up, thanks to you.nbsp; I saw bossman getting himself a couple bottles of whiskey.nbsp; br /br /Dear lady and childrenbr /nbsp; If you dont want an item, you have some choices.nbsp; Take it back to where you found it.nbsp; You could place it on a counter somewhere.nbsp; You could even give it to an associate who is nearby.nbsp; You dont really need to take the unwanted items and hide them under clothing.nbsp; Honestly, we wont throw you out for not wanting items, but you will get looks of death for shoving your crackers under the lingerie.nbsp; br /br /br /Just think, two more night to go before Inbsp;get my days off.

ok, so...I work 9-6 today.nbsp; Spent most that day doing cbls.nbsp; About four I was happy cause I had two left (Out of thirty!).nbsp; Start my last one about 4:30.nbsp; End it at 5:30...after doing it FOURnbsp;FREAKINGnbsp;TIMES...with managment help the third time!nbsp; It was suposed to be a recap test on the ones Ive been taking all day.nbsp; Now...half the questions were about the cbls, and half were uknowns like quot; What is the generic for this medicinequot; or quot; What does q4h mean?quot;nbsp; Acually, that last one I knew becuase I was a CNA.br /br /What I didnt know if the Rx computer has its own little code, which was in NONEnbsp;of the CBLs, and I kept giving me questions that didnt make sense.nbsp; sst46h10dinf?nbsp; WTF!

Seeing some of the recent holiday horror stories, I thought Id join in. br /br /I worked 9-6 on Christmas Eve in the seasonal department, with 2 other associates and our manager. Our manager had just left for lunch and we were all working on keeping things presentable for Friday. I walked out of an aisle into the main area of the room, only to see a shower of water coming down on the display trees! br /br /I called to co-worker P and we hurried to get the displays out of the water (looking back, moving around wet, plugged in trees probably wasnt the smartest thing, but it needed to be done). P walkied a coach back to Lamp;G for a leaking pipe while we tried to figure out what to do. P told co-worker D to go get some pallets so we could palletize the stacks of boxed trees that were dangerously close to the falling water. He complained (nothing new there) and said that they werent even getting wet. (He finally got the pallets 10 minutes later when our manager was back and told him to do it.) br /br /All the managers made their way back to our department. Its the most Ive ever seen back by us. The plumber was called and the scissors lift was brought back. Apparently, it was a pinprick hole, but the pressure was making come out like a shower. It took two hours to get the correct plumber, so that time was filled with mopping, absorb-all (which makes the concrete floor slippery like ice), shop-vac, ect. One manager (one of the cool ones) was going up on the scissors lift and holding a tote under the leak. He made several trips up and down to switch out with an empty one and was soaked by the end of the whole thing. br /br /Were just glad it didnt happen the next day when nobody was there or on the day after . . .

i know this has been mentiioned before but i really wish people would realize that when we are busy which is all the time lately it is really rude to go through the speedy checkouts with 50+ items.br /br /And to top it off the register is threatening to lock me out 5 minutes before quiting time and this lady comes up to me with this overflowing cart and begs me to let her go through my quick check line.br /I simply said no that I couldnt that I was about to get locked off of my register to start with.br /br /Also they really need to have 20 items or less written in Spanish also. Most of the people that abuse it dont speak English.br /br /Anyways Happy New Year to all you fellow Walmart Associates.

Today, my assistant manager and I had to terminate one of my Connection Center associates. br /br /It was hard for me to do, seeing as though I never had to do it before, but it was a long time coming. She had been on her D-Day due to lousy attendance for a couple of months, and yesterday she pulled a no call-no show. (span class=ljuser lj:user=unclebillybob style=white-space: nowrap;a href=http://unclebillybob.livejournal.com/profileimg src=http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif alt=[info] width=17 height=17 style=vertical-align: bottom; border: 0; padding-right: 1px; //aa href=http://unclebillybob.livejournal.com/bunclebillybob/b/a/span, you know who Im talking about. The one whose eval was written without my input.) She claimed she had called in but this claim was refuted by the lack of a phone call to the associate hotline on record and another one of my associates leaving me a note that she had indeed NC/NSed after having been told this by another member of management. br /br /She was a nice enough person and an okay worker when she wanted to be, but thats just it: On the days she did show up, she spent less than half of her time helping customers or doing the work I assigned her. Not cool. I simply cannot have someone like that on my team. Yes, we are a small department and maybe we dont generate a large percentage of revenue for the store in the grand scheme of things like Electronics, Foods, or pretty much anywhere in softlines but we are an important one nonetheless. Customers count on us to help set them up with the wireless options that best meet their needs, and in many cases they are committing one or two years of their lives to a contract thus requiring our undivided attention. br /br /Alas, with all the bad comes some good. My assistant manager has already found a potential replacement...one of our Photo Center Specialists, who is an absolute workhorse and has been longing to move over to Connection for months. He asked me a while ago if he could come on board when I get an opening and I told him I would have to run it by our assistant. Thus far, he looks to be the heavy favorite to fill the termed associates spot.br /br /On a related note, any other CC associates or managers have trouble with their MPT kiosks today? They were running very slowly and kept freezing up at points. We thought it was mostly due to the high wind conditions we had out this way that knocked out power in several parts of the city (our store was without power for all of 2 minutes before it going back on), but when I called Field Support to report it they said that there were similar issues in several other stores across the country and that they were working on it. Bad timing, as today was the release date for the iPhone in Wal-Mart, though when I left at 5 PM today none were sold. (Which now that I think about it isnt surprising...the phone has been available elsewhere since July, and I dont know too many folks that have an extra $200 laying around to drop on a new phone after the holidays. Perhaps it would have fared better had it been released prior to Christmas, but thats a moot point now.) The good news is that one of my associates, with some help from our ATT rep, was able to successfully set up the alarm system for the demo iPhones so that customers actually know we carry them without having to ask.

This is Probably the shortest period of time Ive been at one job, as well as one community. br /br /br /I was called into the Cash office on the 21st to be told that they had to let me go (since Im seasonal) becuase they cant afford to keep their temps anymore. I got an excellant review, with reccomendations to be hired back in February, but it was still kind of sad. They told me my last day would be the 24th. br /br /Well I come to work on the 23rd (I was off the 22nd) at 830am since my husband needed the car. Well I go to clock in at 1030 and it denys my badge. I check personal, and the system shows me as terminated. So they call my Manager, and they tells me they had to let me go sooner than expected. I was a bit bummed at that too. br /br /br /I completely understand, but I wish they would have called me and told me becuase I had to walk around from 1030am till 1230pm, until my husband could come and get me on his lunch break. (Good ol one car, but I wasnt going to pay $1,000, to ship our second car from Germany.)br /br /br /br /I guess its not all sooo bad, becuase on the 23rd, I was called and offered a job I have been waiting months for. To be reenstated at my old job (I worked in Germany, but they have locations here too.) Nice payraise to $11.85 an hour, (I made $8.00 amazingly as a Cashier at wal-mart) Now I dont work weekends, holidays, or anytime past 6 pm.br /br /I hope you all had a great Christmas, I got what I wanted this year.

So, its recovery time in the toy department. We ended up with about 11 pallets worth of toys left over on Christmas eve, plus what was left on the shelves. I think thats pretty decent because weve always had at least 20 pallets of toys merchandise in the back in the bins and the steel. Now we have less, so that is a win in my book. And its not clearance merchandise. When I first got to this store I am in now, there were clearance pallets everywhere. Now its all at least up to date merchandise that has been worked within the last week. br /br /And there were only 2 people, me and my sales associate, working toys freight for the entire month of December. We did about 10 pallets a night, plus my department manager things, and features, and zone.br /br /We had to spend many a freezing night outside in northern Illinois weather doing the trailers and the lawn and garden bins because that is where they decided all toys freight would go. It was well below zero some nights (below zero, not below 32. I am talking negative degrees), and the wind...omg...)br /br /Now Ill be on overnights until the mods reset on January 12. I am kinda tired of overnights, but at least I didnt have to put up with many customers this year. I was reading you guys horror stories. I hope all of you had a good Chrismas/kwanzaa/hannukah/yule/solstice/whatever!br /br /My assistant manager, Ive learned, is pretty much worthless. He didnt tell me anything about the events/price changes/what market team wanted on the endcaps, or what they said when they did tours of my area. It was always coming from another assistant or the store manager. I have email, I use it to tell him what I do regularly, what my plans are, and leave him questions, but he never replies. I CC it all to the store manager too, who is much more helpful.br /br /One really disgusting/annoying thing my assistant does is he chews tobacco ALL the time. I was in the office helping him do the layout for blitz, hes chewing tobacco, and spitting it right into a clear 20 oz bottle. Why does it have to be clear? I dont want to see that! We do my eval, hes chewing tobacco. We do my associates eval, more tobacco. God, it is so disgusting. I am not even sure if hes allowed to do it. Do any of you know? I know he has it in his mouth almost all the time, whether he is on the salesfloor or not. Im sick of this guy, and this tobacco thing is just...really making it worse.

Today was my last day on the front end!nbsp; I think today showed EXACTLY why I wanted off the damn registers.br /br /For starters, I was sceduled 6:45-2:45.nbsp; We were to open the doors at 7.nbsp; When I showed up at the store at 6:10, the doors were open.nbsp; Overnights was told to open the store at 6, even though everyone else was told 7.nbsp; Oh well, jsut means I can acually eat a breakfast and not sit in the breakroom for half an hour.br /br /The morning was easy.nbsp; A few customers, enough to keep busy, but not black friday hectic.nbsp; Did have the one customer who bought $300 in nothing but LEDnbsp;christmas lights...and that was the discounted price.nbsp; No, the fun was all in the last 1/4 of my shift.br /br /First off, I go on my last break.nbsp; The store was busy, which means anyone with a cell phone needs to han aroun the front of the store.nbsp; Im on break, hiding my name tag cause there was no place to stick it, and on my cell with my mom.nbsp; Now, I;m pacing, talking, opening having a conversation on my phone.nbsp; This lady was standing behin me and...:br /br /Lady:nbsp; Excuse me?br /Me: *Turn around*br /Lady:nbsp; You work here?br /Me: I;m on break *Points to phone*br /Lady: How much is this?br /Me: Everythin is 50% off *Continue phone conversation*br /Lady: But how much is it?br /Me: 50% off *Try to walk away*br /Lady: *Picks up an item and shakes it infront of my face* But how much IS it?br /Me:nbsp; Hold on MOM! *Set phone on shoulder and look at the lady* What box did you get it from?br /Lady: *Points to $10 box*br /Me: Half of ten is five dollars! *pick back up phone*Sorry mom, I;m back nowbr /br /I take a couple extra minutes on break, which the lady at my register didnt care becuase I told her of the customer.nbsp; We switch, lines from hell, and me and my bagger, some girl from softlines who didnt know squat about the front end. nbsp; Behind me was the self checks.nbsp; I;m scanning as fast as I can, and from behind me I hear quot;MAAM!quot;.nbsp; Turn around to look, and see a couple at the self checks who think screaming at me an bashing the machine would make it work.nbsp; I tell them that there is a cashier at the self checks that will help them in jsut a moment.nbsp; Return back to my own register.nbsp; Five minutes later I get yelled at again.nbsp; Now they yell at me becuase I;m not helping them.nbsp; I point to the cashier at the self checks helping another customer and say that she would be with them in just a moment.br /br /Although, the screaming flailing toddler was funny.nbsp; After work, walking around with Lonewolf on his lunch break and see a toddler speading around on a tricycle.nbsp; I jsut make amention that she wasnt allowed to ride anything int he store.nbsp; One lady (with about five of her own kids) got defencive and walked away.nbsp; Another lady apoligized and said she wasnt able to get the kid off the bike, but I could try.nbsp; I crouch own, grab the bike, and tell the girl she was so tiny people wouldnt see her an shed get hurt.nbsp; A moment later I walk away.nbsp; A minute later we hear nothing but screaming.nbsp; The bike was somewhere int he freezer section becuase the todler was screaming, kicking, flailing, trying to kick the cart, her mother, and escape at the same time.

Anyone else have an insane amount of trouble putting up their iPhone display today or recently? That thing was freaking heavy! Fortunately I had another one of my associates on hand to help me remove the Marketing Position #1 case from our Connection Center and to set the new fixture in place.br /br /Now all that remains to be done is figure out how this security/alarm system works. I watched the short DVD that discusses how to install it but it confused the hell out of me. It didnt look very secure anyway, and our ATT rep herself even said that it was one of the least secure displays shes ever seen. If the demo units get stolen, thats $800 in shrink right there. I called our MEM to let him know that we couldnt figure the alarm system out; he said it was no problem and to just keep the activated demos behind the counter so customers could try them out. We have one demo line active now, and were getting a phone for a second on tonights truck.br /br /Im worried about Sunday (release date), but excited at the same time. Its been quite a while since weve learned or done anything new in Connection, so this should prove to be interesting.

Yay, I lose my holiday pay because my wife and kid are sick with the flu. Which means Im probably next tomorrow. Oh well, at least I got 3 hours of work in today.br /br /God I love Christmas, its such a happy time. /sarcasm

Hi to everyone. I am asking any claims clerks out there or anyone who knows their claims clerks tobr /answer a question for me. Are you a supercenter, and if you are, are there two of you in claimsbr /as full timers? Or have they, starting today, cut you down to one shift? Thanks to all.
Fri, 12/26/2008 - 22:50
A question...are we closing at 6:00 PM on New Years Eve or something? I ask because my assistant manager only scheduled one of my Connection Center associates to work 9-6 that day. Myself and my other two associates all have off. br /br /If we are open regular hours (which we no doubt are), Ill have to make some adjustments so that we are covered. The iPhone is being released this week, and I have a feeling that sales will be bigger than the company is thinking.

Well I got fired this morning. I love how Wal-Mart makes people work the whole night and then lets them go after they are done. br /br /I got fired because I provoked the asshole who left a HUGE BRUISE on my arm and when I flipped out on him for it a customer overheard and wrote a statement. My bad. I wont go provoking psychos again. And Im sorry for offending the precious ears of someone else. Maybe the dude would have understood why I was cursing if he had seen the psycho PUNCH me. br /br /Whatever. br /br /Fuck you Wal-Mart.

- Caution tape is not meant to be walked under..especially if there are TWO strips of caution tape...If you want something, well get it for you like we said.br /br /br /On Sunday, we had ice melting on the roof and then 2 skylights were leaking.br /br /One lady was like well I need to see them all so I can find what I want. I said Im sorry but the managers dont want anyone over here because the skylights are leaking. So then she said well then they are going to lose business.br /br /I found soooooo many people that went under the caution tape so then i put an extra strip on each entrance to those aisles.

worst thing to happen to my store on christmas eve: the local news decided to annouce that we would be open until MIDNIGHT C-eve and till six on christmas DAY. (supposed to be six on eve and closed totally on day--if your store didnt have the same hours, thats what ours were.)br /br /best thing to happen: im a cashier so all my customers: A) had to line up--no getting mobbed for me; B) were all happy because they were about to leave the store. also my fiancee, who, despite his hatred of crowds, decided he wanted to go shopping today, twice, saw some people fighting over a itub of butter/i. and one guy threw a PS3 memory stick or card or whatever it is at another guy. (not that these are good things; its just that, not having been in the area when they happened, i think theyre hilarious.)br /br /whats your best-n-worst?

So, today I finally got the job offer.nbsp; Not a moment to spare since it aparently takes three days for my CBLs to be in the system and Im suposed to start on Saturday.nbsp; Of course I should be behind the counter on saturday, not doing CBLs, but whatever.br /br /Also... .40 cent raise.nbsp; And ten hours a week.nbsp; So...Yay!
