Inappropriate Blogging

Has anyone had a chance to check the new handbooks rules about blogging? Some of the rules are comment sense (like not threatening a coworker with bodily harm) but the not revealing company information sounds like a handy way of shutting down dissent. I wonder if this site is on the 'inappropriate' list?

The policy of not revleaing company information is a common one to all the companies I have worked for in retail, and it is no suprise to see the phrasing extended to blogging. Usually this is refering to sales, salaries/wages of staff, staff information, etc. As much as I would like to see a big brother conspiracy in all of this, I think it is just Borders trying to protect sensative information from being leaked to competitors, or being leaked in a fashion that it could damage the company's stock

I'm one of those folks that most of yall disdain, a PT employee, just earning some extra cash and getting a discount on crap I would buy anyway. My "career" is in Human Resources at a large national bank, and this is the same policy, almost verbatim, to "my other" employee handbook. With the explosion of blogs and what-not, it's the company's way of trying to keep "internal items" internal or CYA. No different than any items about group membership, or speaking to the media.

No one in my store has even seen the new handbook yet but it doesn't surprise me they have something on blogging in it. And who knows what sites they find inappropriate. I would assume if they disapprove of this one they would of the iworkatborders page at livejournal too. I guess next time I feel nuts I can email the question box and ask em'.... or not.

Why do you thing FT employees disdain the part timers? I have not seen any of that at my store.

Distain PT's? Not at my husband's store, there they are so thankful for them.

This might explain why the GM made the comment to some of the employees that it was "rude" to google someone else's name. Methinks he has a blog he wants to keep underwraps.
